We encourage and train disabled Veterans (free of charge) to participate in multi-sport events such as the Bataan Memorial Death March, the Boston Marathon, and local triathlons. In the coalition environment of the military, we have learned that unified teamwork is critical. Through athletic training, this is one way to show the true meaning of teamwork.

We volunteer and train youth and Police Officers in local Police Athletic Leagues (PAL).

We volunteer and train youth and Police Officers in local Police Athletic Leagues (PAL). PAL’s are organizations in many American police departments in which members of the police force coach young people, both boys and girls, in sports, and help with homework and other school-related activities. The purpose is to build character, help strengthen police-community relations, and keep children off illegal drugs. Most PAL programs now call themselves “Police Activities Leagues” because many of the programs are now focused on youth enrichment, educational and youth leadership programs and not just sports.

We help local Police Athletic Leagues with our programs to donate funds & equipment, so that the cost to taxpayers is small while the returns are great. Participants in the League’s activities are supposedly much less likely to engage in crime, far more likely to praise the character of the police force, and discourage their friends from either committing crimes or covering up criminal activity.

Police Athletic League programs usually have a competitive component. Although the vast majority of the League’s contests are with other youths in the same city, there are regularly scheduled national contests between teams in different parts of the country. We have been honored to train both Local and Homeland Security Law enforcement to train many of their own young people who participate in many activities. These include Boxing, Soccer, Basketball, Football, and many other sports throughout the U.S.

We are so proud to offer education grants to students hoping to pursue further schooling after high school. We offer individual scholarships in the name of fallen heroes who have lost their lives in the line of service. We will continue to honor their memory by never forgetting their ultimate sacrifice.

“I have never been able to think of the day as one of mourning; I have never quite been able to feel that half-masted flags were appropriate on Decoration Day. I have rather felt that the flag should be at the peak, because those whose dying we commemorate rejoiced in seeing it where their valor placed it. We honor them in a joyous, thankful, triumphant commemoration of what they did. ” – Benjamin Harrison, 23rd President of the United States

Operation: Beanie is a way for our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, to offer a simple gift to needy children of Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Our mission is to help deployed military pass out donations to young children who have suffered so much and have so little. Many of the world’s children live in severe poverty and these small toys bring so much joy.

” Dear Veterans In Service,

We received your care package boxes this afternoon before doing our patrol. The motivation it brings my men is priceless. I am not sure what means more to them. Getting to open the boxes or being able to hand out beanie babies to the kids!

We provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for veterans with disabilities.

We provide year-round sports training (through Veteran Training) in a variety of well-coached Olympic-type sports for individuals with disabilities. We do this by providing them with continued opportunities to improve physical fitness and prepare for sporting events. Veteran Training contributes to the physical, social, and psychological development of disabled veterans with athletic challenges. Through successful events and training in sports, athletes gain confidence and build strength, ability and coordination, which they carry into their new civilian lives.

“I firmly believe that his finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that they hold dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” – V. Lombardi

More than $10,000 dollars worth of artifical limbs, sockets and knee joints were donated by Veterans in Service.

With the recent devistation in Haiti, Veteran Training was considering what we could do to help when our own team-mate Brian Fountaine called us up and sent us information about our a new project. The Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital is accepting donations of unused prosthetic arms and legs for victims of the Haiti earthquake. The need is great because of the number of people who have lost limbs, and the cost of providing these prosthetics in the hemisphere’s poorest country.

So, with the help of Brian Fountaine, Teresa Hayes, and John Griffin, lead prosthetist at Orthopedic Rehabilitation Systems at the hospital, people are able to donate unused prosthetics. The donated limbs will be refurbished and distributed to help improve the quality of life for amputees.

Brian took the initiative and led the way to make this his project a reality, and without any fanfare (though the local news station did catch him as we we’re sneaking out the backdoor while they were covering another thoughtful donor’s story) was able to collect more than $10,000 dollars worth of artifical limbs, sockets and knee joints to donate for this month’s Veteran Training mission. We are honored to have him as a friend & teammate and proud to be associated with his efforts.

If you know of anyone interested in donating an unused prosthetic limb… you can contact us here at info@veterantraining.org or if you would like to more about our non-profit programs through Veterans in Service facebook page, please follow our link found at the bottom of the page .

* A little known fact is the 82nd Airborne has kept paratroopers in year-long rotations in Haiti for more than a decade to help in hospitals and food bank distrubution centers. An area of experince we here at Veteran Training know first-hand have heard about in stories from numerous Medics, Soldiers, and Marines over there.
